Had written the following poem on 6th Dec, 2005. Feeling very very morose by my uncle’s unbelievable death. So, thought of sharing it with all of you.
Indrani
Released from the Grave
6th Dec 2005
There were vultures and magpies–
frantically screaming and flying around.
Some were high on the air while some on the ground.
I wasn’t very sure why i was there,
bcos as far as i could remember –
i was playing at can’t remember where.
It’s one of my weirdest dreams,I thought.
I must have gotten hurt,
while playing at the backyard,
and now I that i have lost my consciousness,
I am dreaming of a disgusting graveyard.
I kept watching the animals hunt for the food,
sat at a safe distance too for my own good.
The scavengers were now fighting among themselves.
I thought I would interfere, divide the food equally and settle the dispute.
It got settled finally without my help, though i was totally mute.
By the time they salvaged the body dug up from the grave…it was evening,
and i was still sitting there, shivering in the cold and wondering …
The scavengers were now leaving. So, I decided to have a look at the grave,
then all of a sudden i realized, it was no one else but myself who was released from the enclave.
